Laura Linney is an American actress who is well-known for her performance of strong but vulnerable characters. Her father was an acclaimed writer, however Linney was raised as a single child with a single mother, a nurse. Through the summer months and with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was first through Brown University then at Juilliard School. In the two years following her graduation, she launched her Broadway career. Two years later, in the world of television. Since then she has been involved in numerous films, television shows and stage performances. Her achievements have been numerous throughout her career including four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.
