Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit, an Indian actress famous for Hum Aapke Hain Koun (Beta Saajan) and Beta Saajan is one of the most well-known Indian actors. Her career began in the 1980s and came to prominence with her performance in Tezaab, a film where she starred with veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Her next role was in Dil which she starred alongside Aamir. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she started learning dancing at a young age. At the age of 15 when she began to act, she struggled as many of her films were flops. She found fame and became one of India's top film actresses. After her wedding ceremony, she took a short break from her acting career until she returned. In the last few years, Dixit played a significant role on Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggles of women in India. Dixit has been nominated for 15 Filmfare Awards. Of these she's received 8. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian honour in India. Her social work is also well-known.
