Katherine Heigl has revealed that she grew up in a white bubble, and how this experience impacted the way she raised adopted, multiracial kids. The "Firefly Lane" and "Grey's Anatomy" star shared in a recent interview in regards to the color of her skin, she didn't care what she wore, but after she spoke with her older sister whom she adopted to South Korea, she realized how different society treated each of both. "I I asked my sister Meg, if she had been treated one way when she was walking around with our parents and a different way in the time she was alone without them. She replied, "Oh yeah, always!" Heigl told parents: "That was when I was aware of how foolish I had resulted in me feeling." According to the actress, she grew angry. She wanted to channel her anger into helping the girls she adopted. Heigl has a four-year old son and a 13-year-old wife, Josh Kelley. Their child Nancy Leigh was adopted from South Korea by the couple in 2009; Adalaide is a Black 8-year-old girl they adopted in 2012.
