April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking piano and guitar lessons from seven years old. Her interest in songwriting was awakened. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote at 12 years of age. When April was 14 years old, she dedicated an enormous amount of time creating song ideas and perfecting her music. Then she began to take trips to write with her father in NY in New York and LA. April began to include various other topics relevant to the Take my Hand song for some friends, such as peer-pressure problems and suicides among teenagers. Lockhart also has an ever-growing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned clean beauty company Ilia. Her birthplace didn't come with a left-hand, which is the reason she's what she is. However, that's not the full story. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not shy away from the fact that she is disabled, but neither does it focus on it. The message is? That we all contain multitudes that our identities are complex and that we're much more than our physical selves. Lockhart, via video message from Nashville at home, claims that I do not want this to define myself. I'm much far more than just my physical self. It doesn't affect my life. Everything is normal and I've learned how to adjust. It's also a part of my life, and I think it should be discussed. Self-acceptance is a long marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration for this aspect. However, she admits that she has had periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance as well as wearing clothes that showed her arms. She wears whatever she wants and proudly posts pictures of herself wearing the clothes she wears on social platforms. Self-love she said is like a journey. "I don't think you'll ever get in that place," she said. It's a long journey. I'm not sure you'll ever reach your destination.
